" China Food Safety Association/Group Standard (FSAS) Committee Meeting " was successfully held in Shanghai on May 13, 2019.

Nearly 100 experts attended the meeting, including Mr. Gang Liang, Department of Food Safety Inspection and Supervision, SAMR, Mr. David B. Schmidt, Executive director of AOAC international, Mr. Chengzhu Liang, Director, Technical Center of Qingdao Customs, President, AOAC China Section, Mr. Darryl Sullivan, Secretary-general of AOAC international, Mr. Qi Zhou, Deputy Chair of CSIQ, Mr. Erik Konings, Chair of the past president, AOAC international, Ms. Ying Chen, General Deputy Director of CAIQ, Mr. John Szpylka, Past Chair, AOAC Official Method Board, Ms. Jing Xiao, Director of Standards Department, CFSA, Mr. George Joseph, Asure Quality New Zealand, Mr. Xiaolan Li, Institute for Strategic Studies in Standardization, Qingdao University, and experts from government agencies, research institutes, enterprises and other sectors of society. Ms. Lei Bao, Board Member of AOAC International, Secretary-general of FSAS committee, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, the host reports on the preparations of China Food Safety Association/Group Standard (FSAS) Committee for the conference. The FSAS committee has set up a secretariat in the institute of standardization strategy of Qingdao university. It has done a lot of preparatory work in the early stage and invited well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad as consultants and members of the committee, which lays a solid foundation for the follow-up work. In addition, the meeting discussed the "Management Measures of China Food Safety Association/Group standard(FSAS) Committee" and other relevant rules and regulations. Participating experts are invited to give relevant suggestions. After the meeting, the secretariat of FSAS committee will continuously collect opinions and Suggestions, and continuously revise relevant rules and regulations.

“Member List of China Food Safety Association/Group standard(FSAS) Committee (Draft)" was announced in the meeting. Mr. Chengzhu Liang, Director, Technical Center of Qingdao Customs, President, AOAC China Section, Chairman of FSAS committee, and Ms. Jing Xiao, Director of Standards Department, CFSA jointly presented the letter of appointment to the foreign expert consultants. The FSAS committee plans to appoint 24 consultants, 1 chairman, 5 vice-chairmen, 61 members, 1 secretary-general and 4 secretaries who will jointly carry out the related work of FSAS.

After the meeting, a number of related units showed great interest in the work of the FSAS. FSAS will play an active role as a link to the development of food safety association/group standards and the interconnection with world standards in the future.
